Purpose of job:

To maintain the computing environment by identifying network requirements; installing upgrades; monitoring network performance and to support the School’s academic programmes and administrative departments in ensuring that office equipment is working efficiently.  Taking responsibility to process all documents as directed by line manager.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan network and computing infrastructure development (lan and wireless)
  • Install, configure and maintain all Network services and related computing environments including systems software, applications software, hardware, and configurations
  • Support and maintain network infrastructure, anti-virus software, Google, O365 and other servers
  • Assist the Director of ICTS to design the solutions to meet the current and future school needs
  • Administrate all servers such as Active Directory, Database, Email, School MIS, Cloud system, Backup system and all academic software such as Library software, teaching online platform etc.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, email, anti-virus, anti-spam
  • Manage all backup system and restore protocols
  • Performing disaster recovery operations and data backups when required
  • Protecting data, software, and hardware by coordinating, planning and implementing network security measures
  • Perform troubleshooting diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and other network and system problems
  • Monitor server performance and implementing performance tuning
  • Monitoring network performance to determine if adjustments need to be made
  • Assist with the planning and technical documentation of network infrastructure
  • Document network problems and resolution for future reference
  • Schedule on call 24-hour service with staff to ensure efficient service
  • Be able to work on weekends or nights when required
  • Protect the School’s values by keeping information confidential
  • Liaise with external contractors associated with School network and computer systems
  • Liaise with equipment and software suppliers to keep abreast with trends and developments
  • Coordinate project activities and ensures all project phases are documented appropriately


Other Responsibilities

  • Follow all agreed school policy and procedures as shared and in the staff handbooks
  • Undertake other reasonable duties as requested by the Head of Department, Head of Faculty or members of the Senior Leadership Team

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Proven experience in network administration, with a focus on designing, implementing, and managing complex networks
  • Knowledge of network protocols, routing, switching, subnetting, VLANs, QoS, DNS and network security concepts
  • Experience with network hardware and software, including Cisco and HP Aruba
  • Proficiency in Active Directory, O365, Firewall, VMware, Anti-virus are required
  • Proficiency in network monitoring and troubleshooting tools
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team
  • Flexible attitude and able to work under pressure
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with Academic and Administrative staff
